Help for question 1
Some accounts specify a minimum amount of money you must put into the account when you open it. Please enter the amount you have to open the account with. The annual limit for cash ISAs is £3,600 (or £5,100 if you are 50 or over).
If you enter more than £5,100 in this field, you won't see any cash ISAs, as the tables do not deal with transfers above this amount. If you want to move larger sums from one cash ISA to another, always check if the provider you want to move your money to accepts transfers. You should also check if your existing provider will charge you for moving your money.
If you want to move more than £3,600 (£5,100 if you are 50 or over) from one cash ISA to another, you should enter £3,600 (or £5,100) as the amount you want to save. This will give you an idea of the available rates. But you should always check the rate shown with the provider if you want to transfer more than £3,600 (or £5,100).
Help for question 2
Some accounts are only available if you are planning to save regularly. To help us decide whether to include accounts that ask for a regular deposit, please say whether you will be saving regularly. If you say you will not be saving regularly, any accounts which require a regular deposit will not appear in the table.
Help for question 3
Most accounts pay interest on the money you have left after tax. However, there are some that pay interest tax free, depending on your circumstances, for example ISAs and some National Savings & Investments products. Please show which type of account you would like to see. You can only see one version of the table (tax free or taxable) at a time, because you can't directly compare the two sets of information.
If you already have a cash ISA and are thinking of moving it to another provider, remember the provider you are switching from may charge you a fee.
Help for question 4
Some accounts give you instant access to your money. However, some providers ask that you give them
notice when you wish to make a withdrawal, otherwise they will charge a penalty – usually by withholding
a number of days' interest on the amount you withdraw. Use the options to select how much notice you would
be prepared to give to get penalty-free access to your money.
Help for question 5
Most accounts are available to adults, but some are only available to children or young people. You can
choose to look at accounts available to adults or those available to children and young people. If you
choose to view accounts available to children or young people, you will see products available to those
up to the age of 18.
