The FSA Register is a public record of financial services firms, individuals and other bodies which fall under its jurisdiction.
As well as authorising firms to conduct regulated activities under the Financial Services & Markets Act 2000 (FSMA), the FSA ‘approve’ individuals in firms to carry out particular functions (‘controlled functions’). This part of the Register provides an online search for individuals that are or have been ‘approved persons’ since 1 December 2001, when FSMA came into force.
