The FSA Register
Search our Register for firms, individuals and investment schemes that are, or have been, regulated by us.
The Register is a public record of all the firms, individuals and other bodies that we regulate. Find out how to use the Register and what to consider when searching for a firm, individual or investment scheme.
Our Register has information on all firms that are, or have been:
- authorised by us;
- registered to conduct regulated activities; or
- provide certain products or services in the UK.
It also lists individuals who are approved to carry out particular functions.
Firms can only conduct regulated activities in the UK if they are currently authorised by us or registered to do so, or are otherwise exempt. These activities include many of the financial services that consumers and businesses use or deal with each day.
Searching for a firm or individual
How you search our Register can depend on the type of firm you are dealing with, the individual you want information about, or the product or service being provided.
Finding a financial services firm or individual
Financial services firms and individuals are regulated by us to conduct certain activities and you can search the specific areas separately.
Foreign firms on the Register
Financial services firms operating in the UK, but with a head office in another European Economic Area state, will be described on our Register as 'EEA Authorised'.
Beware of unauthorised activity
Use our Register and make additional checks to see whether a firm or individual is, or was, regulated by us.
Payment services firms
Firms that carry out payment services in the UK must be authorised by us or registered to do so.
Authorised and registered firms
Certain firms can be registered with us rather than authorised by us to conduct regulated activities in the UK.
Firms not on the Register
Only certain types of firms can conduct regulated activities in the UK without appearing on our Register.
The regulatory jurisdiction for the Register comes under the Financial Services & Markets Act 2000 (FSMA), Money Laundering Regulations 2007, Payment Services Regulations 2009 and Electronic Money Regulations 2011.
