European Markets Infrastructure Regulation - New EU rules on derivatives trading

The new Regulation of the European Parliament and Council on over-the-counter (OTC) Derivatives, clearing houses (CCPs) and trade repositories (EMIR) introduces provisions to improve transparency and reduce the risks associated with the OTC derivatives market and establishes common rules for central counterparties (CCPs) and for trade repositories (TRs) and the majority of the regulations will come into effect from December 2012.
