Managing Director, Supervision

Jon Pain joined the FSA in September 2008 as Managing Director (MD) of the Retail Markets Business Unit and became the MD of Supervision in October 2009. Jon has overall responsibility for the supervision of all relationship-managed and small firms. In addition, the business unit also provides advice and guidance on regulatory matters to both regulated firms and consumers who contact the FSA. He also has overall responsibility for the approval of firms and regulated individuals.

Jon joined the FSA after a career with Lloyds TSB where he was latterly Managing Director of Cheltenham and Gloucester, the mortgage arm of the group. He has also held the position as MD of the group's General Insurance business and the Private Banking and Stockbroking business. He was Chairman of the Council of Mortgage Lenders in 2006 and 2007 and previously a member of the Association of British Insurers General Management Committee.
