Equitable Life - Report by the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration
4 August 2008
On 17 July 2008 the Parliamentary & Health Service Ombudsman (also known as the Parliamentary Commissioner for Administration or PCA) delivered her second report on Equitable Life to Parliament, covering the prudential regulation of Equitable Life during the period prior to December 2001.
The FSA acknowledges the importance of the issues covered in the Report. However, the report is a long and complex document and the authorities to whom its recommendations are addressed – the Government, the Government Actuary’s Department and the FSA – are now considering it carefully. The Government has indicated that it will respond to Parliament in the autumn.
The FSA considers it right that the Government should be allowed to be the first to respond formally to the report’s findings and recommendations. When the Government has responded, the FSA will publish its response.
