On 6 March 2008, Her Majesty’s Treasury laid the legislative framework for a UK covered bonds scheme. It makes the Financial Services Authority (FSA) responsible for supervising the regulated covered bonds regime and implements Article 22(4) of the UCITS Directive, Article 22(4) of the Third Non-Life Directive and Article 24(4) of the Consolidated Life Directive.

The FSA can confirm that the following issuers have been added to the regulated covered bond register:  
           

  • Abbey National plc
  • Alliance & Leicester plc
  • Barclays Bank plc
  • Bank of Scotland plc
  • HSBC Bank plc
  • Nationwide Building Society
  • Yorkshire Building Society
