Frequently asked questions - Roadshows

Where will the roadshows be held?

In April we held roadshows in Bolton and Liverpool ahead of the assessments taking place in the North West region. The next roadshows will be held in Birmingham during the first week of September.

What happens if there isn't a roadshow in my area?

Our three year programme will cover the United Kingdom so all firms will have a chance to attend a roadshow. However, we will continue to provide a surgery programme across the country where you can book a 45 minute slot with an FSA supervisor to discuss any issues where you need clarity or more help. Details of surgery locations are available on our website.

Can I attend even though my firm hasn't been notified it is due for an assessment?

Priority places will be given to those firms who are due for assessment. These firms will be sent an invitation to attend the roadshow. If there are available places after the priority booking we will advertise them via Regulation round-up. In order to attend you must have completed a booking form and have a booking confirmation. The roadshow will be held approximately 12-14 weeks before the assessments.

How are you going to invite firms to the roadshows?

We will write to firms that are due for assessment. We will often be in a region for three or four days and usually offer firms the choice of attending a half day session in one of two locations.

Do I need to book a place at the roadshow?

Yes. Firms will need to complete a booking form. Each firm will need to state their preference for location and session. We will only accept firms who submit the booking form. We will not accept bookings by telephone. One place will be held for each firm for two weeks.

Will I get my first choice?

We will do our best to accommodate preferences but due to the large number of firms we cannot guarantee this. The earlier you book the more chance you have of getting your first choice of location and session.

How will I know what session I am booked on?

As we receive booking forms and fill up the sessions we will send you an acknowledgement of your booking. This will include details of the location and session you are booked on and include venue details and a map.

How will the new style roadshows differ from the previous roadshows?

Because we want to help firms better understand and embed TCF in their business and be able to meet the December 2008 deadline, we are focussing the new style roadshow purely on TCF. It will be an opportunity for firms to get more help from us, work through case studies that relate to their sector and discuss these issues with other firms. We will not include project updates in the way we have at previous roadshows. This information will come from our website and factsheets where appropriate.

How do the new style roadshows work and what is the format?

All firms will take part in an opening session covering principles-based regulation and TCF. Firms will then move to their allocated breakout group to work though specific TCF issues that may affect their firm. We will end the roadshow with a closing session for all firms, bringing together key messages and issues emerging from the breakout groups.

What is the duration of the new style roadshows compared with the previous format?

Firms have told us they like the half day format so we have kept to this duration for the new style roadshows.

Who will run the roadshows?

The roadshows will continue to be run by our Small Firms Division. The opening session will be attended by all firms. This will be followed by separate break out sessions, run by managers and associates from the Mortage, General Insurance and Investment departments.
