Statistical data - Article 144(d)
Competent authorities are required to disclose aggregate statistical data on key aspects of implementation. The required disclosure includes national statistical data on the banking sector, credit, operational and market risk, as well as data on supervisory actions and measures.
The 'key' aspects include information about banks and investment firms on both the supervisory process and supervisory outcomes.
Disclosures will have both a descriptive and a quantitative component. For the methods used to define and calculate the aggregate statistical data, you should refer to Annex II which provides a list of definitions. We will revisit these definitions once the CEBS finalises its work on a Common Reporting framework.
In this section, aggregate statistical data on the following topics will be disclosed:
- UK banking sector
- Credit risk
- Market risk
- Supervisory actions and measures
The table on national data will present key statistics for banks and investment firms on a domestic basis, together with key solvency data on a national consolidated basis. The other tables will provide more detailed risk data on a national consolidated rather than a solo basis.
The disclosure of statistical data will occur in mid-2008.
Disclaimer
We will not divulge any confidential information that we receive in the course of our duties to any person or authority whatsoever, except in summary or collective form. So, whenever disclosing aggregate statistical data would result in a breach of confidentiality, we will not disclose it.
