Industry training

Industry Training's aim is to improve the financial service industry's knowledge of and ability to comply with its regulatory requirements.

Clear English Standard award

Any firm or individual that carries out a regulated financial service market activity in the UK must be authorised by us, unless they are exempt.

Once a firm is authorised, we require them to meet the standards set out in our Handbook of Rules and Guidance and to supply us with information so that we can monitor their business.

You can find out whether you need to be authorised by checking the list of regulated activities. If you are already authorised, you can use our online systems to report your data or check your profile.

How do I get authorised?

If you have checked our regulated activities and you are sure you need to be authorised, the next step is to apply. You need to fill out the application that’s relevant to you or your firm.

We have a guide to applying for authorisation that can help you through the process.

GABRIEL

You can use our online information-gathering system GABRIEL (Gathering Better Regulatory Information ELectronically) to send us your reporting data. Our free e-learning course shows you how.

Smaller Firms

As well as the major financial organisations, we also regulate over 17,000 small firms. We want you to be confident in what we expect from you and to clearly understand what it is you need to know.

Our one-minute guides are an excellent way to read and digest key information on a wide range of subjects. We also hold several events where you are able to come and meet representatives from the FSA and ask us any questions.

Supplying the FSA

The FSA buys a wide range of goods and services. This Procurement section tells you about becoming a supplier to the FSA and will help you understand our policies and procedures.

ONA

You can now submit regulatory applications and notifications online using the ONA system.

The FSA Register

We keep an up-to-date record of all FSA-regulated firms, bodies and individuals doing business in the UK. Our register is available to the public, so you can search for more information on all of our authorised firms.

UK Listing Authority

The FSA, when it acts as the competent authority under Part VI of FSMA, is referred to as the UK Listing Authority or UKLA.  In this role, the FSA is a securities regulator, focused on the companies which issue the securities traded in financial markets
