This web-based training covers both money laundering and fraud and is being used as part of our own staff training programme. It is envisaged that this package may be complementary to a firm's wider training on this important subject and could also be of interest to others working in this area. This training package will be updated to reflect policy changes after they come into force.

Objectives

By the end of the programme, users should have an understanding of:

  • the FSA’s role in the fight against financial crime and our risk-based approach
  • the impact of fraud and money laundering on financial services and economies as a whole
  • new legislation (we will update the programme as legislation is made)
  • individuals' and firms' responsibilities in relation to fraud and money laundering; an
  • who the key players are.

Who is it for?

Relevant for all authorised firms and financial crime professionals.

How is the information presented?

You take the course online. It has:

  • a presentation by Philip Robinson, Financial Crime Sector Leader, FSA;
  • practical case studies;
  • interactive features and links to find extra sources of information; and
  • a 20 question assessment to help you understand the topics covered. The assessment is for your own use (it is not compulsory) and, if you do it, prints a certificate for your personal records.

Duration

The course takes approximately two hours. You can stop and start the course and return to it later. The assessment takes about 30 minutes.
