This course has been designed to help you understand the client money section of the FSA Handbook for general insurance intermediaries (CASS 5) and enable you to learn flexibly by selecting the topics that apply to you. It complements the guide to Client Money for General Insurance Intermediaries.

Objectives

When you have finished this course, you will:

  • understand the key terms used by the FSA to describe client money arrangements;
  • know how client money is protected;
  • know how to ensure you are co-mingling under a compliant risk transfer agreement;
  • be able to identify client money and know how to handle it;
  • be able to do a client money calculation; and
  • be aware of the capital and audit requirements.

Who is it for?

This course is relevant to general insurance intermediaries receiving and holding general insurance money. For example:

  • insurance brokers;
  • businesses that arrange insurance secondary to their main business for example, motor dealers; and
  • mortgage brokers who are also involved in insurance mediation.

This course is not relevant to those firms who only receive and hold general insurance money as agent of an insurer.

It may also be helpful for:

  • compliance consultants;
  • accountants and auditors; and
  • firms applying for authorisation to do general insurance business.

How is the information presented?

Updated Modules
