Regulatory reporting for credit unions
The reporting requirements for Credit Unions have not been affected by the launch of Integrated Regulatory Reporting (IRR). Credit Unions should continue reporting using the existing forms.
Quarterly return
The quarterly return (CQ) must be submitted within one month of the relevant quarter (eg. the return for the period ending 31 March must be submitted by the end of April). The notes for completing the CQ form are available in SUP16 Annex 15(1)G.

Annual return
The revised annual return (CY) came into effect on 1 August 2004. We require Credit Unions to submit the CY form and the audited annual accounts, within seven months of their financial year-end. The notes for completing the CY form are available in Sup 16 Annex 15(2)G.
When we input your annual return data into our database we make a number of checks (validations). This is to make sure, for example, that the figures entered add up. The validation rules CY guide below will show you the checks we make. You may wish to run these checks yourselves before submitting your return. We recommend that you look at this guide when completing your annual return.

Both the CQ and CY forms should be sent to:
The Financial Services Authority, PO Box 35747, London, E14 5WP.
Complaints return
Since 31 March 2003, all credit unions have had to send us an annual complaints return showing details of complaints received. If no complaints have been received, the credit union needs to submit a nil return, by ticking the appropriate box on the form. The return needs to be submitted one month after the end of the relevant period. So, for example, for the period 1 April 2004 to 31 March 2005, the return must be submitted by 30 April 2005.
The electronic reporting option given to credit unions in 2003 has been withdrawn because system changes mean they can no longer access the correct form. The return currently presented to Credit Unions through Firms Online is not appropriate for them and should not be completed. Credit unions should continue to use the special return linked below; once completed, it should be sent to The Financial Services Authority. PO Box 35747, London E14 5WP.
