What to expect from us
Service standards
Our service standard for mutual societies is to register 90% of valid applications within 15 working days. Since we receive a large number of applications each year and need to examine each carefully please ensure any application is submitted in good time, particularly if you have a preferred registration date in mind.
See how we are doing against our service standard.
After registration
Once a society has been registered, there are ongoing obligations on the society, for example, periodic fees and annual reporting requirements.
There is information on the Annual fees and returns page.
PIN numbers
We are happy to offer societies the opportunity to choose their own four-digit personal identification number (PIN).
If you think your society would benefit from having a PIN then the secretary should write to 'Mutual Societies Registration' at the FSA on your society's letter-headed paper, telling us the four-digit number you have chosen.
You should then use the PIN when applying to us to register a new registered office address. Please include it in your covering letter to accompany the address change application.
Once you have chosen your PIN, please take care to remember it to avoid delaying any application you make to change the registered office address.
