Product Sales Data
Product providers submit Product Sales Data (PSD) to the FSA every three months.
PSD details the sales of investment, mortgage and a limited range of pure protection products.
Providers complete their PSD reporting within 20 working days of the end of each calendar quarter. You can find further details of the reporting requirements in SUP16.11.
Facts and figures
- Providers submit their PSD report via the Transaction Reporting System (TRS).
- Over 450 providers are registered on TRS as PSD reporting firms.
- Each reporting quarter, we receive details of more than 1.5 million transactions.
- TRS is available for providers to use 24 hours a day.
- Most providers submit their data via XML web upload or through the system-to-system method. (please contact the helpdesk for further information)
- A TRS Trial is available. Most firms have used this before submitting PSD which has lead to few submission errors. (again, please contact the helpdesk for more information on this)

Tips for providers
- Remember to tell us your firm has finished reporting. The TRS system requires your primary/principal contact or secondary contact to confirm 'Quarter complete notification'. Until we receive this notification, we will assume that the firm has not finished reporting. You can find more information on this in the computer-based training package.
- Remember to tell us if the primary/principal contact as well as your secondary contact is going to be absent during the relevant PSD reporting periods. They must notify our TRS helpdesk so another primary/principal contact or secondary contact can be temporarily set up.
- We recommend you use the trial system to test your data before submitting it to TRS Main. However, please remember your final submissions after testing in the trial MUST be submitted to TRS Main and not TRS Trial. Similarly, you should not submit test data to TRS Main. If you mistakenly send a file to the wrong part of the system, you will have to use the cancellation process to back the transactions out.
- Remember your passwords. To help you remember your password it will now remain valid for 13 months. Please note the TRS helpdesk is only able to reset the primary/principal contact or secondary contact's password; the primary/principal or secondary contact is responsible for resetting other users' passwords.
- Queries: if you have any PSD-related queries please contact the TRS helpdesk on 0870 0130 467 or email fsa.uk@logica.com
