MetaData schema - XML description
This page is only relevant to firms who intend to report data using XML system-to-system 'Direct Communication' data transfer or 'Web Upload'. Knowledge of XML is a pre-requisite.
The MetaData schema is referenced by Data Item schemas. It allows meta data, such as the Data Item reference number and name, to be stored in individual Data Item schemas. The MetaData schema is not necessary for submission of data to the FSA, but its specification is included in the Data Reference Guide to aid understanding of the Data Item schemas.
Use the links below to download the zip file for the MetaData schema, or to view the individual component files within the zip file. The following files are provided:
- The ZIP file contains all the other files for this schema.
- The XLS workbook provides a definition of the schema elements.
- The XSD file is the actual XML Schema.
- The PDF file documents the schema and has been generated automatically by our schema editor. It contains diagrams, instance representations and schema representations.
