This page is only relevant to firms who intend to report the Mortgage Lending and Administration 'Fees and levies' Data Item (MLA-J) using XML system-to-system 'Direct Communication' data transfer or 'Web Upload'. Knowledge of XML is a pre-requisite.

• The ZIP file contains all the other files for this Data Item.
• The XLS workbook provides a definition of the Data Item and validation rules applicable within the Data Item. It also shows the layout of the Data Item as per the FSA Handbook.
• The XSD file is the XML Schema for the Data Item.
• The XML file(s) are sample XML instances. If there are two samples one will be valid (against Schema and Business Rule Validation) and the other will be a "full" one containing every element. If there is only one sample it will be both valid and full.
• The PDF file documents the schema and has been generated automatically by our schema editor. It contains diagrams, instance representations and schema representations.
• The JPG file is a logical diagram (message map) of the Data Item and has also been generated automatically by our schema editor.

We intend to accept XML submissions conforming to this specification for reporting dates of 30 September 2008 onwards, to be submitted on or after 1 October 2008. However, this specification is still subject to change.
