FSA Sector teams
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has eight 'Sector Teams'. These cover industry sectors (Asset Management, Banking, Capital Markets, Insurance, and Retail Intermediaries and Mortgages) and thematic issues (Accounting & Audit, Financial Crime and Financial Stability)
The Sector Teams provide the FSA with a coherent overview of each sector and an understanding of the key issues that it is facing. Through the analysis of these issues, and the role they play in providing information and intelligence to others, the Sector Teams also provide challenge and analytical support to supervisory areas either directly or through their participation in the FSA's risk governance framework.
Each Sector Team has four key objectives:
- Risk identification and assessment - delivering market intelligence, analysis and research in order to inform FSA wide risk identification and supervisory judgements;
- Oversight of risk mitigation - developing, monitoring and evaluating the mitigation of sectoral risks;
- Representing the FSA on sectoral issues - representing sectoral issues internally, and building and maintaining strong relationships with external stakeholders to help make it easier for them to do business with the FSA; and
- Education - assisting development of FSA staff on sectoral issues.
