SSG Process
Process
To raise an issue for discussion at the SSG, please contact one of the trade association representatives.
- Trade associations will meet with the FSA periodically to raise issues for discussion.
- Papers and agenda will be circulated at least one week in advance of the meeting.
- Formal minutes will not be produced. Discussions will be recorded as amendments to the issues log. These amendments will be circulated to members two weeks after the meeting for comment.
- The inclusion of supporting documents on the log will be by mutual agreement in the standing group.
- Members will have two weeks to consider and comment to the FSA on the amendments to the issues log. Any amendments will be agreed at the subsequent meeting.
- Amendments will be posted to the issues log two weeks after the meeting.
- Meetings will be scheduled monthly (first Monday of the month) but may be more or less frequent depending on the number of issues raised for discussion. Where meetings are cancelled or re-arranged sufficient notice will be given of the change.
- SSG members are free to circulate papers within their organisations and, in the case of trade associations, circulate around that association's members to gauge industry views (unless otherwise specified).
Responsibilities
The FSA will

- Share with the SSG members its resulting policy thinking and rationale.
- Circulate an agenda and papers one week in advance of the next meeting, and include forward agenda items for the subsequent meeting.
- Record and circulate to members the discussions held in the SSG for comment prior to posting on to the issues log.
- Provide papers for consideration on issues raised by the FSA and on policy thinking in relation to issues raised by members.
SSG members will:

- Suggest how the issues raised could be addressed.
- Review and if appropriate provide suggestions for improvement on any proposed changes to the handbook.
- Agree that issues raised at SSG which are not on the agenda will be redirected to the trade associations for discussion at a later date.
Trade association members will:
- Collate issues raised by interested parties.
- Collate views of interested parties on issues raised and their relative importance.
- Pass on views of interested parties to the FSA. Interested parties may include both SSG members and non-SSG members.
- Provide any papers or responses in a form suitable for inclusion on the FSA website.
