Consumer Sector
What we do
Liaising with consumer bodies
We are the first point of contact for consumer bodies and organisations, think-tanks and academics with an interest in consumers; both at home in the UK and abroad, particularly in Brussels.
Spotting ‘consumer risk’
We help spot new, or emerging, consumer risks that might affect the FSA or which it ought to know about and ensure that appropriate action is taken. By ‘consumer risk’, we mean things that potentially disadvantage current, or potential, customers of financial services and products.
Watching brief on coherence
We keep an eye on the overall coherence of the FSA's approach to consumers and – where necessary – we challenge colleagues, provide advice or take action.
Putting consumers at the core of everything we do
We aim to provide colleagues with the support they need to enable them to put consumer issues at the core of everything they do, to the extent that it is approriate in particular areas across the organisation.
