Alexander Justham (JJ) - Sector Leader
JJ was appointed Director of Markets February 2008 and has worked in the FSA since January 2007. He joined the FSA as Head of Market Infrastructure where he was responsible for the supervision of the main market infrastructure providers in the UK. His previous career was spent a JPMorgan, where his last post was as a Managing Director at JPMorgan Cazenove. There he was responsible for the Corporate Finance and Brokerage team covering Financial Institutions in the UK. Prior to this he had run JPMorgan's European securitisation business.
David Bailey - Manager
David Bailey has been the Capital Markets Sector Manager since January 2007. He joined the FSA in April 2006, with responsibility for financial derivatives surveillance and thematic risk analysis of exchange traded markets. Prior to joining the FSA, David spent 9 years working at JPMorgan, whom he joined as a graduate in 1997. For the majority of this time David worked as a derivatives trader in the Rates Hybrids and Exotics business where he held the role of Head of Structuring and Execution. He graduated from Durham University in 1997 with a BA in Economics and Spanish.
Douglas Hull - Associate
Douglas Hull joined the FSA in 2004 from TransMarket Group L.L.C., a Chicago based proprietary trading firm. Previously he was a Senior Associate Director at Deutsche Bank (1993-2001), initially developing their risk management capability. From 1995 he traded a multi currency portfolio of synthetic asset swap spreads, incorporating an options overlay, with active participation in central bank bond and repo auctions. Before that he was employed in management accounting and performance attribution roles in the asset management industry (1984-1992). He graduated from Victoria University, Wellington with majors in Economics and Accountancy, and is a Chartered Accountant.
James Packer – Associate
James Packer joined the FSA in 2004 on the Graduate Programme, having graduated from Durham University with a degree in Combined Social Sciences in 2002. Before joining the Capital Markets team, James worked as a supervisor of European wholesale banks. James is currently working within the CESR expert group analysing the role of credit rating agencies in the financial system.
Ali Ravalia – Associate
Ali Ravalia joined the FSA in 2004 on the graduate programme having completed a masters in Economic History at the London School of Economics and a BA in Economics & Arabic from the University of London. Ali has worked for Deloitte, RBS and HSBC and spent a year conducting research on off-shore banking and economic development in Bahrain. He has recently completed a secondment at the Treasury where he worked in the Financial Services Strategy team. He has held several roles in the FSA including roles in the HSBC supervision team, the Basel 2 project team in the Risk Review Department and in primary markets policy.
Perrine Herrenschmidt – Associate
Perrine Herrenschmidt joined our graduate development programme in 2004. Before joining the Capital Markets Sector Team in 2006 she worked on the implementation of MiFID and supervised Middle East and Asian banks. She has recently returned from a six month secondment in Citigroup's Debt Capital Markets Division. She has a BA in Business from the European Business Programme and an MSc in Development Studies from SOAS, University of London.
Julia Tennant – Graduate
Julia Tennant joined the FSA in 2006 on the graduate programme after graduating from Manchester University with a degree in Economics. Before joining the Capital Markets sector team she worked as a supervisor of small mortgage intemediaries.
