Sector Teams

Trade Association Coordination Committee (TACC) & Senior Practitioner Committee (SPC)

The Capital Markets Sector is the primary contact for 18 trade associations. We also work closely with several other trade associations in consultation with the Banking, Insurance and Asset Management Sector Teams.

To promote a regular dialogue on new and emerging strategic risks we meet regularly with our core group of trade associations. The Trade Association Coordination Committee (TACC) raises market wide issues of concern to its members, focusing on risks which may adversely affect orderly and efficient markets.

Important matters raised by the TACC are then discussed with the Senior Practitioner Committee (SPC). The SPC is composed of CEOs & senior management from the banking and asset management industries. The terms of reference for the SPC are:

  • Capital Markets include the primary markets in which long-term funding is raised and the secondary markets in which the financial instruments representing those funds are traded, with the markets that are used for transferring financial risk.
  • Both primary and secondary markets are included, covering instruments traded on an exchange or an OTC basis.
  • Issues affecting all market participants are considered, whether they are public or private, individuals or firms, authorised or un-regulated, retail or wholesale.
  • The committee focuses on the products or practices that materially affect market quality, pricing or structure, irrespective of the nature of the market participant or end client.

Helping FSA staff get practical industry experience

We organise staff secondments into the industry. Typically, these secondments are of 2-4 week duration to enable FSA staff to gain practical experience in the market place. Please contact Louise Shenouda (email: Louise.Shenouda@fsa.gov.uk, Tel. 0207 066 2250) if your firm is interested in taking FSA staff on a short secondment.
